An ambush predator working mangrove edges, bridge pilings and surf troughs. Prefers moving tides and warm water. Classic dawn and dusk action along shorelines.
Tarpon – Megalops atlanticus
The “silver king” of the flats—powerful runs and acrobatic jumps. Found around channels, mangroves and seagrass. Year-round, with peak action May–September.
Permit – Trachinotus falcatus
A wary flats icon that feeds over turtle grass and sand. Demanding presentations but unforgettable fights. Best consistency March–October.
